We wish to ensure that the value of FT content is transparent and independent of the technology platform it is accessed via. We are inviting corporate customers to enter into a direct licence with the FT. The benefit of the new licensing model is that you can purchase one licence for multiple users of FT content across a variety of platforms - both third party channels and unlimited access to FT.com. Organisations without a direct licence will lose access to FT content on news aggregation services from 1 April.
With the current upheavals in global business and finance and the FT's unrivalled coverage, we want to make sure you don't miss vital information and analysis. So if an independent and authoritative perspective on the major issues of international business and finance are important to you and your business, we'd like to establish a direct agreement with you for the use of the FT.
From 1 April 2008, all organisations that would like unlimited access to FT content via a third party news aggregation service will need to take out an FT licence. The only exception to this is academic institutions and public libraries which can continue to access embargoed FT content (delayed by 24 hours) without the need for a direct licence.
Step 1: Please call our UK or US sales teams at any time on (UK) +44 20 7873 4001 or (US) +1 877 843 3399, or email us at FTSales.Support@ft.com, stating that you would like to arrange a direct licence.
Step 2: We will agree with you the number of individuals in your organisation that will benefit from unlimited access to FT Content. This constitutes a Core User group and is the basis for price of the licence. The price per Core User starts at £199 (which is the same as an individual subscription to FT.com premium), with a minimum contract size of 10 users. The price per Core User decreases with volume, creating an economy for corporate purchasers.
Step 3: We will ask you to indicate on your licence which platforms you would like these Core Users to use, to access FT content. This can include FT.com and any of our authorised third parties. The price for FT content is independent of the platform you use to access it. Your organisation will need a separate agreement with the third party for the use of their service.
Step 4: Sign and return the licence. Access will be enabled within 30 days from signature.
The FT will be invoicing our clients directly based on the number of Core Users with rights to access FT content.
Step 5: Our account management team will contact you to ensure that you and your colleagues are getting the full benefits of FT content via the direct licence.
